The response to the Edinburgh Frontrunners launch has been great, with a steady and growing number of people joining us for our weekly runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Thanks so much to everyone who is coming out to our runs -- you're making this a success!
As we enter our fifth week of running as EFR with a growing group of people, it's time to put a bit more structure in place. This shouldn't be too painful, but it is necessary.
We've drafted a proposed constitution for EFR, and we invite your comments. The inaugural meeting will be held Wednesday 11th December starting at 20.30 at The Auld Hoose, 23-25 St Leonards Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9QN. (This is immediately after the Wednesday evening run.) The meeting will be brief, and consist of forming the club, adopting the constitution and electing Committee members. Please come and join us for this -- we promise not to pressurise you into joining the Committee!
Briefly, the constitution sets out the aims and governance structure for the club, a code of conduct and a membership fee. We will be asking members to pay £20 per year (£7 for students and unwaged members) starting January 1.
The biggest single expense will be affiliating with Scottish Athletics ("SA"), which costs £7 per member per year. SA affiliation will give the club and its volunteers liability insurance cover for all of our runs, which is really important. Other expenses include website hosting and, eventually, printing costs for posters and flyers to hand out in LGBT-friendly establishments. At some point we may also want to get a banner made for Pride.
