A running club for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and straight friends.

Edinburgh Frontrunners (EFR) is a running club for members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community in Edinburgh and beyond. EFR belongs to a global network of frontrunners groups, with three located in Scotland, 14 across the UK, and branches in over 100 cities worldwide. Our club warmly welcomes members, regardless of age, gender, sex, sexuality, ethnicity, or running ability. Central to EFR is a culture of respect and a passionate commitment to reducing barriers to participation faced by marginalised groups.
Consider joining us! Whether you are a beginner, enjoy social running, or aim to enhance your pace and time, we will support you throughout your running journey.
Why not check us out on our Wednesday or Saturday runs? We'll make sure you run with a buddy or group that matches your ability, and you can also enjoy the post-run social. You will discover that we are a real community as well as a running club.
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
Diversity and Inclusion
Edinburgh Frontrunners is a recreational and social running group focused on creating a safe and inviting atmosphere for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex runners, and straight friends. We support each other in our shared love of running and walking, aiming to cultivate a club atmosphere that acknowledges and embraces our diversity.
Our Values
-
Community & Support: We are a welcoming group where everyone belongs. Beyond running, we are here for each other in life’s challenges, offering a dependable network of friends who care.
-
Well-Being: We promote physical and mental health through running, balanced with enjoying life’s little pleasures - like coffee and treats shared together.
-
Encouragement: Every runner’s journey is unique, and we’re here to support and cheer each other on at every step.
What Diversity Means to Us
Diversity is about recognising and valuing what makes each of us unique. It's creating a space where everyone feels they belong - not in spite of our differences, but because of them.

Monitoring Diversity
Diversity is important to us, so we take care to monitor our membership data (some you can see below). We are proud to have a long history of attracting runners from a wide range of ages and abilities.

Challenge discrimination in any form - homophobia, transphobia, racism, ageism, ableism, and sexism
-
Listen and learn continuously to improve how we support our diverse community
We take incidents of harassment or discrimination very seriously. If you experience or witness anything concerning, please reach out to any committee member or contact us confidentially.
